Back-to-School After Snow!

Dear I.C. School Families,

It is back to school tomorrow and I am ready to be there with our children and staff!  The meme below expresses my feelings about last week!

Class pictures were scheduled for Monday, February 22, but have been rescheduled for Monday, March 1.  Order forms will be sent home early this next week.  PS parents, if  your child does not normally attend on Mondays, you are welcome to bring them to join their class for the group picture.

Lunch menu for Monday has been revised because food deliveries did not happen last week.  Lunch tomorrow is grilled chicken, mac & cheese, carrots, mixed fruit.  The lunch menu for the remainder of the week and breakfast menu is the same.

No days from last week will need to be made up with additional school days since we had AMI lessons for all week.  Yah!

Heads up!!  Thursday, March 4th, is Book Character Day!  Students are encouraged to dress as their favorite book character, and the date is swiftly approaching.  Participation is not required; students may wear uniform in place of dressing as a character.

As you probably know, Mr. Tom Caldarera died on Friday, February 12, in his home.  Tom was one of a very few remaining 4th generation families in our school.  Tom, his children, and most of his grandchildren attended I.C. School.  Tom's grandchild, Jonah and great grandchild, Liam, are currently students at I.C.  Tom was a patriarch in our parish, school, and community.  Tom just recently made a video for CSW and called me two weeks ago to see how CSW and his video had been received.  His wife, Dorothy, and Tom were the one of the pioneer families in beginning the great tradition of our Spaghetti Dinner over 50 years ago.  He would always call the week after the dinner to check on the success of it!  For many years, the pasta was made and cooked at Talianos.  I celebrated the rehearsal dinner of my wedding at his restaurant and enjoyed decades of "end of school year" festivities in their upstairs room.  Talianos is the favorite place for my family to get together and celebrate any occasion.  Tom and Dorothy always took time to stop by and greet us!  Tom did much for our community as well, and taught his children and grandchildren to serve others and understand the importance of family.  Tom will always be remembered with much love, and I am grateful for knowing this outstanding man and the impact he had on so many people!

Eternal rest grant unto Tom, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
