Mandy grew up in Fort Smith, AR, and graduated from Arkansas Tech University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. She began her teaching career in the Fort Smith Public Schools, where she taught 1st grade for 9 years and Reading Recovery for 2 years. In 2006, Mandy obtained her National Board Certification in Reading/Language Arts in Early and Middle Childhood. She was hired to teach 1st grade at IC in 2008.
Mandy married Chuck, an alumnus of IC School, in 1993. They have three children who are all alumni of IC: Katie, Seth, and Tyler. She enjoys spending time with her family, photography, and going to the beach.
Mandy’s favorite bible verse is also her teaching motto: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart.” Colossians 3:23
Laurie Reith Hindman grew up in Immaculate Conception Parish and School. She graduated from the 9th grade in 1975. In 1982, when she graduated from UCA with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, she was blessed to be hired at I. C. School as a 3rd grade teacher. She felt right at home in her former school. She taught for six years and also earned a Master’s degree from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. In 1986, she married Philip A. Hindman. In l988, she took a break from teaching to begin a new career as a mother. During this time, she enjoyed raising her five children and also substituted at I. C. Then in 2002, she accepted a full time teaching position in 1st grade where her motto is: “Let’s learn to read, so we can read to learn!”
Laurie and Philip have four daughters and one son. Brooke, Jana, Kelsey, Andrew and Maria all graduated from Immaculate Conception and Trinity Junior High. She is a member of the I. C. Church Choir. She enjoys her family time, traveling, reading, and music.
